The Ghost of Johnnie Cochran to Join Irvin Defense Team
Bristol, Conn() - Hoping to get his one week suspension lifted and avoid indictment on charges of possessing drug paraphernalia, former NFL wide receiver and current ESPN commentator Michael Irvin has taken the unusual step of adding the ghost of deceased attorney Johnnie Cochran to his legal defense team. Famous for getting an acquittal in the O.J. Simpson trial, Cochran's legal services are still in high demand despite his death from brain cancer in March of 2005.

Irvin is almost as famous for his scrapes with the law as for his football career at the University of Miami and later at the Dallas Cowboys. He plead not guilty to cocaine possession in 1996 and was later associated with the infamous "white house" in Texas known for prostitution and drugs.

Irvin was upset after his current attorneys failed to persuade ESPN to lift his suspension and believes Cochran to be his best chance at clearing his name. The fashionable and testy former football star was apparently convinced after a ouija board session with the spirit of Cochran spelled out "If the crack pipe isn't lit, you must acquit." ESPN could not be reached for comment at this time.
